All Star Week

Hey everyone,

This past week has been bittersweet, not only for Yankees Universe, but for the MLB. It is the All Star break, usually a time for fun and friendly competition, however the passing of two legends, George Steinbrenner and Bob Sheppard have dampened the mood a bit.

In other news, Nick Swisher represented the Yankees in the Home Run Derby last night, failing to advance out of the first round, hitting just four homers. Those four home runs were good enough to put Nick in 6th place out of the 8 contestants. The derby ended with David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox defeating Hanley Ramirez of the Florida Marlins in the final round.

N.L. def A.L., 3-1

The All Star game started out well for the Yankees and the AL, with Robinson Cano bringing home the first run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning last night. However, Brian McCann of the Atlanta Braves broke through with the bases loaded, clearing them with a double which would prove to be the game winner. The NL won their first All Star game since 1996, and will have Home Field Advantage in the World Series.
